Abstract- In this paper, two methods (Weibull and Rayleigh distributions functions) are presented and used to evaluate the wind speed characteristics and the wind power potential in six locations (Algiers, Oran, Tlemcen, Djelfa, Adrar and Ghardaia) in deferent regions of Algeria. This study based on the atlas wind of Algeria established by the Meteorology National office which had 37 stations of measures. Wind data collected at 10m of height above ground, were extrapolated to 30 and 50m, using power law.
Keywords: wind speed; wind energy; Weibull parameters; wind generators.
